I use the framing statement to integrate sources into my papers. An example of this can be found in the big data paper. I wrote, “Harris, an award winning journalist on the topics of science, medicine, and environmental issues, exemplifies the benefits by stating, ‘researchers and product developers eagerly delve into digital data such as CT scans and electronic medical records, making artificial-intelligence products that are helping doctors to manage information and even to help them diagnose disease’ (0:30) This is a prime example of the production of products that benefit patients and the researchers. The patients can obtain better treatment for themselves and others, while the researchers can profit financially over the success of the necessary product.”
This demonstrates the framing method as I give credibility to the source by explaining who Harris was, I then use the quote with the timestamp as it was from an audio, and finally explain what the quote means and the significance of it as the research benefited both patients and researchers. I choose this quote to confirm that the use of data to develop technology is more beneficial than anything else and support my claim for the use of the medical data. This shows a strong integration of sources and my development as at the beginning of the semester. At the beginning I would use the quote without stating the author or give credibility and then explain the quote or I would just use the quote. Now I follow the framing method, which strengthens the integration of sources and supports my claim effectively.
