ENG110 Lit Narrative

The pictures above are the timeline and cluster for the pre-writing activities. The top picture is of the timeline of my literacy history and the bottom picture is of the cluster of a certain event in my literacy history with more detail and certain events that go along with it. Both activities were very useful for the writing afterwards as the timeline allowed me to view my literacy history and ponder what event in my history I wanted to write about. After picking the event that I wanted to do, the cluster allowed for me to think of the specific details and minor events that go along with this huge event and what I thought about them. After that the writing assignment was easier to write about as I knew what topics of the event would be good to mention and how it relates the the mindsets that Dweck talks about in the Ted Talk.

The essay revision was very different than past experience as we were looking for particular things and not just editing any errors we noticed. The highlighting of whose ideas were being stated in the essay was interesting to see as you could compare how much was your ideas and how much of the source’s ideas were present in the essay. Looking for certain things when editing also helped improve the essay in a bigger scale rather than just seeing grammar or spelling errors here and there. The whole revision process probably took about 90 minutes to 2 hours. I felt good about my paper after all the revisions and thought it held everything that I wanted to get across in a nice way. Re-envisioning of my work was more of a retelling of my story that was told in my essay. The whole project was okay and took too much time as putting it together took forever and there were problems along the way that took DigiSpace some time to figure out and it was all sorted out, but the pictures were a bit fuzzy by the end product. I really just learned how to use iMovie a little bit more and that retelling of stories by talking is harder to explain at points, but you get slightly more feeling across. Other than that there really was not anything else learnt while making the video. It was just another version of my paper except with me speaking and putting the situation on others.
